How to Make a Traditional Christmas Wreath

Creating a beautiful, traditional Christmas wreath is a great way to bring some cosy, festive to your home during the holiday season and is a fun craft to keep you busy.

This DIY wreath project combines the classic look of pine greenery with fragrant cinnamon sticks, dried orange slices, and pinecones to capture that fresh, earthy feel.

Follow these simple steps to craft your own wreath that’s not only visually stunning but is easy to make. Perfect for your front door, fireplace, or as a thoughtful homemade gift!

Everything You Need

You Will Need:

- Artificial Pine Wreath Base

- Cinnamon Sticks

- Decorative Orange Slices

- Pinecone Embellishments

- Green Wire

- Glue Gun

- Twine

- Scissors

- Wire Cutters

How to Make:

Step 1: Start by grouping the individual cinnamon sticks in bundles of threee, then use a glue gun to secure the sticks together in a pyramid shape; this can be achieved by using two sticks on the base and one on the top.

Step 2: Once the glue has set, wrap a length of twine around each bundle and secure in place with a small bow on top of the pyramid bundle.

Step 3: Next, take some dried orange slices and group them in bundles of two and stack the smaller slice on top of the lager one. Cut a 20cm length of wire and push one end through the centre of the orange slice, pull the wire through until the segments sit roughly in the middle of the length of wire. Fold the wire in half, then twist the wire three times to secure them in place.

Step 4: Once you have all the components for the wreath prepped, lay them out on the wreath base, experimenting with placement and composition. Once happy, secure everything in place with a glue gun, except for the dried orange slices; these can be attached using the surplus wire and wrapping this around the wreath base.

Step 5: Cut a length of twine and fix to the back of the wreath so that it can be hung - we've plaited three strands together to make for a more durable hanger.
